DES Programs to Help Your Business
The Federal Bonding Program encourages businesses to hire at-risk, hard-to-place job seekers by providing insurance policies that protect against employee theft or dishonesty. Bonds are available at no cost to the job applicant or the employer, and require no paperwork on the part of the employer. The bond may cover any period up to 6 months, with coverage based on potential risk starting at $5,000.
The prospective employer may contact your nearest DES office to arrange bond coverage or for more information. Or see the Federal Bonding Program website.
100-Day No Fault Guarantee
Selecting the right person for a job is never a guarantee. If you have to terminate a new employee, your unemployment insurance account will not be charged if you notify DES.
Applicable only to employees terminated within a 100-day period from the date of hiring, due to a bona fide inability to do the work.
Employers must request the non-charging by contacting the Division of Employment Security.
As a result, the employer is not penalized for giving someone a chance at the job. The employer's unemployment tax experience rating will not be affected.
