Online Record-Keeping Feature for Work Search Activities

The Division of Employment Security is implementing a new online record-keeping feature for work search activities. Anyone who files for unemployment must actively search for work, contacting at least three different employers and keeping a record of those search activities.

The online record-keeping feature streamlines the process, improves efficiency, and ensures eligibility for benefits. It supports individuals in organizing their job searches and reduces errors that create overpayments or delays in payments. This feature is part of DES’s ongoing effort to modernize the UI process, ensuring timely, accurate payments to those who qualify.

This change will be rolled out in phases by geographic area—see the map below for your county's timeline. Note: dates for implementation are subject to change.

How to Get Started:

  1. Visit the MyNCUIBenefits section on des.nc.gov.
  2. Follow the steps to log your work searches and complete your certification.
  3. View the tutorial video below if you need assistance.

Keying in Your Work Search Activities

What You Need to Do:

  1. Log Your Work Searches: Enter your 3 weekly work searches in your MyNCUIBenefits account before completing your weekly certification.
  2. Complete Your Weekly Certification: Once your work searches are logged, you can file your weekly certification to continue receiving your benefits.

You will need to enter your work search activities online into MyNCUIBenefits before you can access and file your weekly certification. Providing this information online, instead of by paper, ensures claims are correct and speeds up the process of getting your unemployment benefits.
